P4.2-M sibuyas mula China nasabat ng BoC

NASABAT ng Bureau of Customs (BoC) ang mga sibuyas sa Manila International Container Port (MICP), sinasabing ipinuslit mula sa China, at P4.2 milyon ang halaga.

Na-intercept ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) ang tatlong container vans na puno ng kontrabando, ayon sa BoC.

Ayon sa natanggap na ulat ng CIIS, ang mga sibuyas ay tinakpan ng fresh garlic.

Ang mga sibuyas ay naka-consign sa Equicent Import and Export Corporation, may business address sa U253, 2F Velco Centre Building, R.S. Oca kanto ng Delgado St., Port Area, Maynila.

Tanging 80 bags ang bawang mula sa 2,800 bags na natagpuan sa nasabing shipment, paha-yag ni CIIS-MICP Intelligence Officer Teodoro Sagaral.

“The import permit presented covers the fresh garlic only but it doesn’t account for the onions beneath the declared garlic,” ayon kay Sagaral.

Sinabi ni CIIS director Neil Estrella, ang importers ay walang import permits mula sa Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI).

Bilang ahensiya ng Department of Agriculture, ang BPI ay nag-iisyu ng permits sa sibuyas at bawang.
