ANG high school students na naka-enroll sa public school ay malapit nang turuan ng pagsasalita ng Korean, pahayag ng Department of Education (DepEd) nitong Biyernes, makaraan lagdaan ang memorandum of understanding kasama ng opisyal ng Korean embassy sa Manila.
“The DepEd will introduce Korean language as a second foreign language and elective through a pilot program which will be conducted starting this year in select 10 high schools in Metro Manila,” ayon sa education department.
Sinabi ni Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Kim Jae Shin, ang kaalaman sa Korean language ay magreresulta sa mas mainam na mga oportunidad para sa local at international employment, at sa education grants sa Korea para sa piling Filipino students.
“Language is very important so teaching and studying [foreign languages] in schools is very helpful to deepen the bilateral understanding between two nations,” dagdag ni Kim.
