INILUNSAD ang kauna-unahang police beekeeping ­club sa Great Britain upang makatulong sa mga pulis sa Scotland Yard’s CO19 firearms unit na maging kalmado.

Nagkaloob ang mga opisyal ng £525 para makabili ng dalawang hives at protective suits para sa Met Police Beekeeping Association.

Ayon sa publicity material para sa club, ang aktibidad ay ideyal para sa stressed cops dahil ito ay “relaxing and rewarding hobby”.

Sinabi ng firearms officer na naglunsad sa club, tumangging magpabanggit ng pangalan dahil sa legal reasons: “There’s a long history of beekeeping in my family and I thought it would be a fantastic hobby for police.”

Habang ayon sa Met Police spokesman: “The Metropolitan Police Beekeeping Association has no record of members being stung by their MPBA bees.

“Members wear protective clothing and gloves at all times and are briefed about risks before they take part in activities.”
