PARA sa bagong import ng Barangay Ginebra San Miguel na si Josh Powell, kaunti pang ensayo ang kailangan para lalong umangat ang kanyang laro.
Dahil biglaan ang kanyang pagdating sa bansa bilang kapalit ni Leon Rodgers at isang araw lang ang kanyang ensayo sa Kings ay nangapa si Powell sa kanyang pagharap sa isa pang baguhang import na si Darnell Jackson ng Meralco.
Buti na lang at isinalba ni Chris Ellis ang Ginebra sa kanyang dalawang sunod na tres sa huling yugto upang padapain ng Kings ang Meralco, 88-78.
“I’ll continue to learn and I have a lot of adjustments to make. I also need to give a lot of energy on defense and keep on growing,” wika ni Powell na nagtala ng 16 puntos at 15 rebounds sa laro. “The biggest thing was that we stuck together. We remained positive and we just kept fighting throughout the game.”
Si Powell ay dating manlalaro ng Los Angeles Lakers kakampi ni Kobe Bryant bago siya dumating sa bansa.
“The fans sparked and helped us a lot. Darnell is a good friend of mine and we had a lot of battles together. Our break will help us a lot although I wish I could play some games,” ani Powell. (James Ty III)
