Ogie ibinuking Martin ayaw magpatawag na hari: But he is our Concert King

NAKABIBILIB si Martin Nievera na sa estado ng kanyang career ngayon ay napaka-humble pa rin. Aminado itong may takot pa rin siya na magtanghal sa malalaking venue.

Sa press conference kamakailan para sa kanyang The King 4ever concert na magaganap sa Araneta Coliseum sa September 27, sinabi nitong idea lahat nina Ogie Alcasid at Cacai Velasquez, mga producer niya, ang konsepto ng kanyang concert.

“Actually all of this was Ogie’s idea. He said, ‘it’s about time you have anothet big concert.’ Ogie, Cacai, they are the one who mastermind this because I have my fear at Solaire, I’m happy there. I didn’t think that I have to be back on the big venue, nakakatakot eh. As soloist, ikaw lang. There was a time all you nerd is my name and people are there. So, let’s see if they are all (fans) still alive,”ani Martin sa isinagawang presscon sa Solaire North, Quezon City.

Nang matanong si Ogie kung bakit ipinag-prodyus nila ng concert si Martin, anito, “Gary is not available,” pabirong sagot ni Ogie.

“It was the first month special of ABS-CBN magkasama kami we we’re chitchat, nag uusap ng plans sa 2024, Ive finally asked him, ‘when are you going to do your concert?’ Ang sabi niya ‘no.’ So sabi ko ‘let’s produce your concert.’ Sabi niya ikaw kung gusto mo.’ Akala niya hindi ako seryoso. 

“So when we put it together sabi ko let’s do it and I asked Cacai to join us and she’s the best producer in our family. So here we are.

“You know Martin is very humble and he doesn’t want to be called king. But he is our king. He is our Concert King. If he doesn’t want to say, I will say, he is the Concert king forever,” sabi pa ni Ogie.

At kung may mga pinapangarap si Martin sa kanyang buhay, hindi na sa kanyang sarili kundi sa nga anak niya, lalo na si Santino na isang special child.

Si Santino ay anak ni Martin sa ex-partner na si Katrina Ojeda at sina Robin at Ram naman ay mga anak niya kay Pops Fernandez.

“What’s nice about my dreams now, they’re not mine. It’s not about me anymore. It’s about the industry. It’s about the country.

“It sounds like a showbiz answer but as you get older, that’s what you think about.

“I think about my children. What are they gonna be, what are they gonna become? Will I live long enough to see my children realize their dreams?

“You all know I have a special son. He’s gonna be 18 in October which is very near 21. He’s an adult.

“We talk about this all the time. What is my special son gonna do when there’s no more therapists, there’s no more special schools?

“He’s an adult. What’s he’s gonna do? And that is the biggest challenge, I think, for every parent who has special child or a child on spectrum.

“Santino can talk. He can talk about things he wants to talk about. He’s stuck on his own like most kids but all of that has to stop when you’re 21 years old. You have to be an adult.

“And if I’m no longer in this world or his mother is no longer in this world, who’s gonna take care of my special child? What is he going to do for the rest of his life? So my dreams are for him, for Robin, for Ram,” aniya pa.

“For the industry, I want to be an important and remembered person in the industry. I don’t want to be forgotten. That is my biggest fear, is I will be forgotten.

“That’s why I say yes more than no. That’s why I take pictures with fans as opposed to shying away from it. I do love it. I literally put myself in the crowd just to be able to take pictures because, I know, it’s not gonna last forever,” sabi pa ng magaling na singer.

Wish naman ni Martin na makapag-iwan ng legacy sa entertainment industry na forever na maaalala ng mga Filipino.

“I don’t feel like I’m out of the game or out of the loop. Nandiyan pa rin ako. Feeling ko, nandiyan pa rin ako.

“I want to make it better. I want to leave a legacy where I can be remembered by my music, by my good decisions, not just by my bad ones but by my good decisions, so that people will follow my footsteps.

“To have a nice path to follow to their dreams.That’s what keeps me going,” sabi pa.

Ilan sa mga special guests sa 42nd anniversary concert ni Martin ay sina Ogie, Regine Velasquez, Pops Fernandez, Gary Valenciano, The Company at marami pang iba.

Ididirehe ang concert ng inaanak ni Martin na si Paolo Valenciano, habang si Frank Lloyd Mamaril ang direktor sa TV version ng concert.
