NAGALAK ang Palasyo sa utos ng Office of the Ombudsman na sibakin sa serbisyo ang 45 opisyal at ahente ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na sangkot sa “pastillas scam.”
Ayon kay acting Presidential Spokesman at Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, ang desisyon ng Ombudsman ay patunay na walang sacred cow sa kampanya ng administrasyong Duterte kontra korupsiyon.
“We welcome this decision as it shows the current government’s zero tolerance policy against corruption in the bureaucracy,” ani Andanar sa kalatas.
Aminado si Andanar, malaking hamon pa rin ang pagsugpo sa katiwalian sa pamahalaan kaya’t isinusulong ang automation of government systems upang maiwasan ang face-to-face contact at maialis ang paulit-ulit na mga proseso para maipagkaloob ang episyenteng serbisyo ng gobyerno.
“We are, therefore, pushing for automation of government systems to avoid face-to-face contact at the same time eliminate redundant processes, for effective and efficient delivery of government services,” ani Andanar.

Matatandaang inimbestigahan ng Senado ang pastillas scam bunsod ng isiniwalat ni Sen. Risa Hontiveros sa isang privilege speech hinggil sa naturang modus operandi ng ilang BI personnel na nagpapahintulot makapasok sa bansa ang Chinese nationals na hindi sumasailalim sa background check kapalit ng pera.
