Pagluklok kay Velasco may basbas ng Palasyo

Taliwas sa pahayag ng Palasyo na walang kinakampihan sa girian nina Taguig City Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano at Marinduque Rep. Lord Alan Velasco bilang Speaker ng House of Representatives, nagsagawa ng live coverage ang Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) sa pagboto ng 186 kongresista ng kanilang bagong Speaker ng Kamara kahapon ng umaga.

Maraming nagulat nang matunghayan kahapon ng umaga sa Facebook page ng RTVM ang pagtitipon ng mga kaalyado ni Velasco na nagluklok sa kanya bilang Speaker kapalit ni Cayetano sa Celebrity Sports Plaza sa Quezon City.

Batay sa pahayag ni Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Asst. Secretary Kris Ablan, nag-request si Deputy Majority Leader Bernadette Herrera-Dy ng live coverage sa RTVM sa Celebrity Sports Plaza.

“Following the request of the House of Representatives (HOR) in August for the live coverage of the budget deliberations for the 2021 General Appropriations Act, the RTVM had a team at Batasan today to prepare for the resumption of session. The assigned crew was informed to transfer to the Celebrity Sports Plaza instead and upon getting to the venue, RTVM covered the activity,” sabi ni Ablan.

“The RTVM coverage posted this morning on our social media accounts does not reflect the PCOO’s position on the present political situation in the HOR or any partisanship on the matter. The PCOO and RTVM simply complied to the request for the coverage, with the promotion of factual information and transparency, especially on tax expenditures that concern all the Filipino taxpayers, in mind,” dagdag niya.

Nakasaad sa mandato ng RTVM alinsunod sa Executive Order No. 297 na nilagdaan ni dating Pangulong Corazon Aquino noong 27 Hulyo 1987, “EO 297 designates PBS-RTVM as the entity with the sole responsibility and exclusive prerogative to decide on policy/operational matters concerning the television medium as it is utilized for the official documentation of all the President’s activities for news dissemination purposes and for video archiving.”

Habang si PCOO Undersecretary Raquel Ignacio ay nagpadala ng media advisory kahapon para sa programang Laging Handa sa PTV-4 ngayong umaga na tinukoy bilang isa sa mga panauhin si “Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.”

Iginiit ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque na ayaw nang makialam sa politika sa Kamara ni Pangulong Duterte at ang nais lamang niya ay maipasa ang panukalang P4.5 trilyong budget para sa 2021.

“In principle, the President does not want to be involved in politics – “Natagam na ako.” ‘Natagam’ is the Visayan word for “Nadala na ako.” Iyan po ang verbatim na sinabi ng Presidente noong siya ay nanawagan sa mga kongresista natin na isantabi po ang politika.

“Ayaw kong makialam sa politika sa Kamara. Natagam na ako. Ang importante ay maipasa ang proposed 2021 budget,” ayon kay Roque sa virtual Palace press briefing. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
