PINAGBABAYAD ang Department of Tourism (DOT) sa mamahaling branded apparels at luxury goods na kinuha ni noo’y Sec. Wanda Teo sa Duty Free Philippines Corporation (DFPC).
Inutusan ng Com-mission on Audit (COA) ang DOT na bayaran ang 277 iba’t ibang items na kinuha ni Teo sa DFP na umano’y nagkaka-halaga ng P2.5-million.
Sa 2017 audit report ng COA, ang pamamakyaw ni Teo ng items sa DFPC ay sa pamamagitan ng memoranda na inilabas ng kanyang opisina at ni noo’y DOT undersecretary for Administration and Special Concerns Rolando Cañizal.
Base sa record, inilabas sa bodega ng DFPC ang mga items, mula September hanggang December 2017, na kinabibilangan ng “toiletries, kitchen wares, beddings, appliances, canned goods, branded bags, luxury brand cosmetics, chocolates at marami pang iba.”
Sinasabing kabilang sa mga kinuha ni Teo ay mga Rolex na reloj, high end Ferragamo shoes at branded na Coach bags mula sa Duty Free shops at pinalitaw na para sa “giveaways.”
Labag ito sa Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009 ang pagsandok ni Teo ng mga items, ayon sa COA.

NAGBABAKA-SAKALI ang ilan nating kababayan na sa pamamagitan ng pitak na ito ay maipararating ang kanilang mga hinaing kay Pang. Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte, lalo ang mga OFW na sa malalayong bansa.
Pero ipinapapauna nating iniiwasan na sana ng inyong lingkod na itampok ang mga sumbong sa pitak na ito dahil alam nating matutulad lang sa sandamakmak na reklamong ipinarating sa “Duterte Hotline 8888” na walang nangyari.
Sa pagkakatanda ko, sa rami ng naitampok nating sumbong at ibinulgar na katiwalian mula nang maluklok si Pres. Digong ay isang ahensiya lang ng pamahalaan ang tumugon para umaksiyon sa pitak na ito.
Kaya alam natin na pagaaksaya lang ng panahon at espasyo sa pitak na ito ang pagtatampok sa mga sumbong at reklamo ng ating mga kababayan na hindi naman pakikinggan ng gobyerno.
Ganu’n pa man, sadya lang hindi kaya ng powers natin na talikuran ang idinudulog na problema ng ating mga kababayan, lalo ang mga OFW na nasa malalayong bansa na umaasang may tutulong sa kanila.
Narito po ang ipinarating na sumbong ng isang OFW mula pa sa malayong kontinente ng Africa na nagikap pang lumiham sa Facebookk page na “Isumbong Mo Kay Duterte” na ating binuksan bago pa nahalal si Pres. Digong:

I’m Dr. Rodelo Salburo, an OFW and associate professor in Arba Minch University, Ethiopia. I would just like to share my heartaches with you about BALIKBAYAD LENDING MANILA (First Digital Corporation).
I loaned from Balikbayad Lending in the amount of P150K to pay for my Placement Fee and also for the needs of my family. I left last October 2017 for Ethiopia. I would like to air-out my complaints for Balikbayad Lending.
Though I signed a payment term contract with them. But seems like not fair enough to me in the way they handled me now:
1) I was charged with P14-K service charge but it seems like I’m not getting a quality customer service from the time I processed my loan with their loan officers/staff;
2) My payment term is for 12 months (1-year), my first payment was Dec 2017. I’m faithful with my payment due dates. Kaya lang minsan delay ang release ng salary namin, every 10th to 12th day of every month. (salary of the previous month will be released on the 10th to 12th day of the next month). I explained it to Balikbayad thru e-mail but they don’t consider it. Another problem that we are facing here the Filipino teachers in Ethiopia is the delay of the arrival of our money due to “low dollar reserves” of the country;
3) I was asking for the receipts of my payment made with balikbayad but it seems like they’re ignoring it and until now I have not recieved any receipts;
4) Balikbayad is enjoying so much the delay of arrival of the money I sent, delay of salary release. The more delay it is, the happier Balikbayad is, and painful it is for me an OFW. My hard earned money here in abroad is almost owned now by BALIKBAYAD;
5) They give consideration for this month of May instead of May 12 due date, they extended it to May 15. So i asked the Ethiopian Commercial Bank when was the exact date umabot ang pera ko sa ‘Pinas sa account ng Balikbayad. The bank said, it was May 17. But Balikbayad just posted my payment now May 21, 2018, which means mag-charge na naman sila ng late charges. I hope po ma-correct ang irregularites ng Balikbayad. I even have a plan to raise this up to Duterte hotline 8888 but I’m here in abroad. Sobra na ang Lending company na ito, they are not helping the OFWs, a lending without a heart.
