TEN years na sa mundo ng showbiz si Raymond Rinoza na professionally ay isa talagang engineer. Hindi sinasadya ang pagpasok niya sa pag-aartista, ngunit aminado siyang nag-e-enjoy naman sa kanyang second career.
Panimulang kuwento ni Raymond, ”I started back in 2007. Story goes like this: It was never really my plan to become an actor. When I got a job as an engineer, the team was preparing for the Christmas party and needed a host. Since I was the newbie, they begged me to be the host (none of them wanted to). So I took on the job. Turns out I did okay, or I did great, depending on who I asked.
“So every year they would make me host. After some years, I decided to take formal hosting classes, and when I read in the paper that ABS-CBN was going to conduct one, I registered. So I took the hosting workshop. Afterwards, one of the workshoppers I made friends with wanted to join an acting class but didn’t want to register alone. As a friend, I accompanied him. Turns out the acting workshop was conducted by a director named Rahyan Carlos. This was in 2007. Direk Rahyan would in future be teaching Star Magic talents. Our particular workshop included students like Coco Martin, Avi Siwa, and theater actresses Jenny Jamora and Lynn Sherman.”
Saad niya, “The class had a digital movie output, which was a culmination of our workshop activities. We shot a film for two days entitled “Ang Parol sa Aking Burol” and it was a very exciting experience. I was able to see myself on the big screen for the first time when the film was shown at UP Cine Adarna. That got me hooked. Watching myself, I knew I could do better. I joined other workshops for the next several years, including Direk Emman Dela Cruz’s UFO Workshops, Direk Zig Dulay’s Eksena Workshop, and Brillante Mendoza’s Film Workshop.”
What’s exciting is, marami pang dapat matutunan and it’s the journey, the challenges, which make it exciting.”
ALAM MO NA!
