Interes ng US iniisip ni Duterte sa WPH

AYAW ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na masaktan ang damdamin ni Uncle Sam kaya isinasaalang-alang niya ang interes ng Amerika sa kanyang magiging diskarte sa isyu ng West Philippine Sea, bilang kaalyado ng Filipinas.

Sa kanyang talumpati sa San Beda Law Alumni Association Testimonian Reception sa Club Filipino sa Greenhills, San Juan City, inamin ni Duterte, nasa komplikadong sitwasyon ang Filipinas makaraan magpasya ang Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) na sakop ng 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone ng Filipinas ang mga teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea na inaangkin ng China.

“But we do not also want to offend the United States. Why? Because we have identified ourselves allied with the Western powers. So there’s an interest which we should not forget: Our interest and the interest of our allies.Now there are a lot of complications there,” ani Duterte

Hindi aniya magugustuhan ng Amerika kapag iginiit ng China na sakop din nila ang air space ng mga teritoryo sa WPS na kanilang kinakamkam base sa nine-dash line theory na ibinasura ng PCA.

“Because now that the Tribunal has ruled, ‘yung arbitral decision states that… And if China would insist on a space domain, that you have to identify yourself before you can cross that vast sea there, America will not like it,” dagdag pa ni Duterte

Kahit aniya igiit ng US na teritoryo ng Filipinas ang air space sa WPS at ayudahan pa ang bansa sa maritime security ay masyadong maliit ang espasyo na kapag isinara ng China ay malaking dagok sa ekonomiya ng buong mundo.

Hindi aniya malulutas ang usapin sa puro daldal lang at kailangan ng kortesiya para hindi na makalikha pa ng panibagong problema.

“Although they (US) insist it’s the  Philippine air space and, of course, the maritime security, it’s just too narrow there. Alam mo ‘pag nagsara ‘yan, lahat tataas because even the insurance of the cargoes and the boats, and the ships there, tataas. So you do create another problem for our economy and somebody else’s finances. So careful tayo diyan. So we have to navigate with courtesy. Hindi naman ito nadadala ng… Puro lang ito istorya talaga, your honor, your excellency, sige bow, bow,” dagdag pa niya.

Nauna rito’y inamin ni Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, inutusan na ni Duterte ang mga kaukulang ahensiya na ikasa na ang magiging agenda ng bilateral talks sa China.
