NGAYONG inilaglag na ng Alaska Milk ang Meralco sa kanilang knockout na laro noong Linggo, susunod na paghahandaan ng Aces ang Rain or Shine sa semifinals ng PBA Philippine Cup na magsisimula sa Huwebes sa Mall of Asia Arena.
Ayon kay Alaska coach Alex Compton, magiging maganda ang serye nila kontra Elasto Painters na tumalo sa kanila sa semifinals ng Governors’ Cup noong Hunyo.
Bukod pa rito ay hindi pa kinakalimutan ni Compton ang 51 puntos na pananambak ng ROS sa kanyang tropa noong eliminations ng Governors Cup.
“I actually expect that to be a great series,” wika ni Compton. “They are a tough team. I think they matchup well with us, so I expect a really good series. I expect a lot of games like that in our elimination game where it came down to the last play.”
Sa huling laro ng dalawa ay tinalo ng Painters ang Aces, 98-95, kung saan nanguna si Jericho Cruz dahil sa kanyang dalawang huling tira sa mga huling segundo ng laro.
“Obviously yung experience, sa kanila. But these guys just have to keep on playing hard. Ang gusto ko sa mga players ng Alaska, napakasipag. From players one through 16, all of our players play hard every day. Sobrang saya mag-coach sa ganitong klaseng players,” ani Compton.
Malaki rin ang respeto ni Compton kay Yeng Guiao na coach ng Painters.
“The thing when you judge a people’s character is you look at the people closest to them, kung ano ang sinasabi nila tungkol sa taong yun. You ask any of the players who played for coach Yeng, they have a great love for him.
“Ineexpect ko rin na magandang laban ulit. I won’t be surprised if it’s a deep series. Hopefully this time, we come out on top. Magandang laban ‘to,” pagtatapos ni Compton.
