Mag-ingat sa pagbili ng condo sa Megaworld (Senate warned on mafia-like Megaworld)

Dear Senators,

Over nine (9) years ago (Oct 2005), I bought a condo from Megaworld, at the Resorts World, next to the Marriott Hotel, just across NAIA 3, the contract says turnover was March 2010, when March 2010 came and I walked thru my condo, there were many defects so I did not accept turnover until all defects would be fixed, they did some small things but not fix all my concerns, and they started sending association dues and utility bills beginning from March 2010, even though I did not sign turnover papers. Until now they refuse to do the turnover even after I agreed to waive the other construction defects, but I insisted that I am not obligated to pay association dues and utilities since I haven’t signed turnover papers yet. Its now four (4) years and eight (8) months past turnover date, it is very apparent now that Andrew Tan & Megaworld are conditioning consumers to accept seriously defective products and start paying association and utility bills on contracted turnover date whether consumers have got what they expect or not, this is wantonly disregarding consumer rights.

In the past we have seen Andrew Tan & Megaworld buy influence at high positions in the Philippines, recently at the Supreme Court thru SC Justice Corona, Andrew Tan spends big money to be with President Aquino too, so now he thinks he can run over the Filipino people because of his vast connections in government.

Recently, I found out that the condo I bought was not a Marriott condo as the agent who sold me has claimed, so it is apparent that Andrew Tan and his Megaworld staff will resort to everything to make a buck, including fraud, shoddy construction and pressure selling with total disregard of consumers rights, it doesn’t need a rocket scientist to figure out that Andrew Tan & his Megaworld staff is a mafia type business operating in the Philippines, they should be hauled to jail immediately and all their licenses to operate suspended, our gov’t entered to agreement with a mafia entity on the Iloilo convention bldg., which will be very harmful to the Filipino people. Let’s look into the fraud they committed at Marriott Resorts World because it portends what will happen to their projects surrounding the Iloilo convention center, I have all the documents and witnesses to prove it, I hope you will take this matter seriously to protect the Filipino people from further rip-offs.
