RTU kampeon sa 26th SCUAA-NCR Chess

NASIKWAT ng Rizal Technological University (RTU) ang overall championship sa pagtatapos ng 26th SCUAA-NCR (State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association -National Capital Region) Chess Team Competition Miyerkoles sa 3rd floor ng  Library area of Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) Villamor Campus in Pasay City.

Nakopo ng RTU Thunders ang gold medals sa men’s at women’s chess team meet ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) sanctioned tournament.

Pinangunahan ni Kritz Albelar ang RTU Thunders sa men’s overall crown matapos magposte ng limang panalo sa limang laro. Kasama rin sa RTU Thunders ay sina Rafael Cayanan, Gerald Mamaradlo, Arturo Turla at Randolph Dalauta kung saan si former olympian National Master Mauro Yasay ang head coach habang ang assistant coach ay si National Master Nicomedes Alisangco.

Tumapos ang RTU Thunders ng four (4) match points, gaya ng last year’s champion Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). Nakalikom ang RTU at PUP ng tig 14 game points, subalit nauwi ng una (RTU) ang titulo sa bisa ng third tie break nang talunin ni Albelar si PUP’s Julius Alfonso sa Round 4 sa kanilang top board encounter.
