PH BoC, Korea nagkasundo sa Customs trade

PORMAL na pumirma ng kasunduan ang Filipinas at ang Republic of Korea (ROK) na naglalayon na mas lalong mapabuti ang customs trade sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.

Walang iba kundi si Bureau of Customs Commissioner Rozanno “Ruffy” Biazon at ang kanyang counterpart na si Korean Customs Service Head Back Chan Un ang sumaksi sa pagpirma ng Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) na sumasaklaw sa trade and field facilitation, cargo security, intelligence, personnel trainings, anti-smuggling measures at research.

“It (agreement) will not only help boost the BoC’s revenue and anti-smuggling capabilities but would also help favorably position the country’s tourism industry in Korea,” ani Biazon.

Nagpahayag rin ang parehong opisyal ng kagustuhan na wakasan ang pag-aangkat ng kontrabando sa pamamagitan ng expanded intelligence sa pagitan ng Filipinas at Korea.

Sa katunayan, sumang-ayon na ang Korean Customs Service na magbigay ng listahan ng mga karnap na sasakyan sa Korea upang hindi na makarating pa sa Filipinas sa pamamagitan ng mga tiwaling indibidwal at grupo.

Paliwanag ni Biazon, ang kasunduan ay naglalayon rin na mapaigting ang turismo sa bansa lalo pa at nangunguna ang mga Koreano bilang pinakamaraming turista na pumupunta at bumibisita sa ating bansa.

“With our enhanced cooperation in the field of travel facilitation among our nationals, we should be able to help boost the country’s tourism industry,” ayon sa Customs chief.

Samantala, nangako si Biazon na iimbestigahan ang ‘di umano abala na nararanasan ng mga Koreano sa bansa na ino-obliga na ideposito ang kanilang mga bagahe sa airport habang nasa Filipinas at matapos ay niluluwas rin sa kanilang pag-alis sa bansa.

Bukod sa bansang Korea, ang BoC ay mayroon din parehong kasunduan na ginawa sa United States Customs Service.                            (JSY)
