ISANG malaking karangalan para sa Pilipinas na mapili ng Top Supermodel Australia na rito ganapin ang kanilang preliminary competition.
Ayon sa Top Supermodel creator at founder na si Michelle Membrere, 25 naggagandahang modelo mula sa Australia ang darating sa Maynila para sa pre-finals show.
“Wala pong Filipino contestants sa competition, lahat po ay mga Australian models. Pero ikinagagalak po naming ipaalam sa inyo na sa preliminary show, all the Australian contestants will wear Filipino creations!”
Nang tanungin kung ang Top Supermodel ay isang beauty pageant o isang fashion show, sinabi ni Michelle na, “Nasa tao na po kung sa tingin nila ay fashion show kami o beauty contest. We’re not going to define it. It’s all up to you guys. There is no category or proper terminology for us. Let the people judge, or let the public tell the story about us. You can call them models or candidates.”
Co-founder ng Top Supermodel sina Maria Cristina Cuyugan at co-owner naman si Reniel Torres.
Unang dumating sa Pilipinas ang tatlo sa 25 Australian contestants. Sila ay sina Stevie Hearl (Adelaide), Jordan Michelle Smith (Melbourne) and Gracie Baker (Sydney).
Ang unang event ay ang Preliminary at International Runway (bahagi ng Fashion Canvas) sa Intramuros, Manila sa September 5 at 6.
“It promises to be a dazzling display of fashion excellence, highlighting both local and international designers,” saad ni Michelle.
Layon ng Fashion Canvas na ipakita ang mayamang cultural heritage ng Pilipinas habang inilalahad ng mga kandidata ang kanilang natatanging kuwento sa pamamagitan ng fashion.
Ayon pa kay Michelle, “This immersive experience will not only elevate the profiles of emerging talents but also engage the audience in meaningful conversations about the importance of diversity in the fashion industry.”
Kasunod ng Preliminary at International Runway event ang TTSM Kaleidoscope Runway Show na magtatampok sa anim na local government unit (LGU) partners at ng kanilang katangi-tanging cultural identities at kontribusyon sa mundo ng fashion.
“We will have one winner for the contest. She will get 10,000 Australian dollars and prizes from our sponsors and partners. One of the most exciting prizes for the winner is that she will host a digital show called Fashion Microphone on Top Supermodel Channel TV, which we are producing.
“Top Supermodel is an Australian brand. We have practices from pageantry that we would bring to fashion: first is advocacy, and second is the speaking ability.
“We have models for ads and billboards. But we are introducing fusion models that are speakers,” pagbabahagi pa ni Michelle.
Bakit nila napili ang Pilipinas?
“We are promoting a cross-cultural program here. We want to merge the cultures of Australia and the Philippines. The Philippines is also the home of the first Filipino supermodel, Anna Bayle. And of course, the Philippines is one of the countries to beat in the pageant world. So we have fashion, modelling, and pageantry. The Philippines is a perfect destination for the cross-cultural program,” sinabi pa rin ng proud Pinay na si Michelle.
