2 barko ng China naispatan sa Occ. Mindoro

DALAWANG barko ng China, isang People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy na ineeskortan ng barko ng China Coast Guard (CCG), ang namataan sa karagatang sakop ng Occidental Mindoro, iniulatng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Ayon kay Commodore Jay Tarriela, ang tagapagsalita ng PCG para sa West Philippine Sea (WPS), ang lokasyon ng mga barko ay naitala sa 69.31 nautical miles mula sa Cabra Island.

Agad nagpadala ang PCG vessel na BRP Teresa Magbanua ng radio challenge sa PLA Navy warship 793, na unang namataan, upang alamin ang intensiyon nito sa pagtungo sa naturang lugar ngunit hindi ito tumugon.

Sa halip, ang escort nitong CCG 4203 ang tumugon at iginiit ang soberenidad at hurisdiksiyon ng China sa WPS.

“The movements of these vessels have necessitated several radio challenges from the PCG throughout the day, without response from the PLA Navy warships. Additionally, it has been observed that PLA Navy warship 164 is conducting helicopter landing exercises on its flight deck, with continuous activity recorded throughout the morning,” anang PCG.

Iginiit ng PCG sa mga naturang barko na ang kanilang operasyon ay nagaganap sa Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) ng Filipinas.

“The PCG reminds the PLA Navy and the CCG to give due regard to the jurisdiction of the Philippines in its EEZ, answer the radio communications from the PCG, and desist from the conduct of unauthorized patrols or law enforcement-related activities in the Philippine EEZ,” dagdag ng PCG.
