Lito Lapid

Lito Lapid ‘di mahilig kumuda, tahimik na umaaksiyon

HARD TALK

1. Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010 (Republic Act No. 9999)

This law provides free legal assistance to indigent Filipinos by granting tax credits to lawyers and law firms offering pro bono services. Senator Lapid was the principal author of this measure.

2. Biometrics Law (Republic Act No. 10367)

This law mandates the use of biometrics in voter registration to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. Senator Lapid was the principal author.

3. Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 (Republic Act No. 10645)

This law expands the coverage of the Senior Citizens Act, providing additional benefits and privileges to senior citizens. Senator Lapid was the principal author.

4. Foundling Recognition and Protection Act (Republic Act No. 11767)

This law provides legal recognition and protection to abandoned children, ensuring their rights and welfare. Senator Lapid co-authored this measure.

5. Basic Education Mental Health and Well-being Promotion Act

This bill aims to establish programs promoting mental health and well-being in basic education institutions. Senator Lapid co-authored this measure.

6. Philippine Indigenous and Traditional Writing Systems Act (Senate Bill No. 1680)

This proposed bill seeks to protect and preserve indigenous and traditional writing systems, such as Baybayin, by incorporating them into the education curriculum. Senator Lapid is the principal author.

7. National Legal Knowledge and Assistance System Act (Senate Bill No. 1751)

This proposed bill aims to create an online legal knowledge and assistance system accessible nationwide, providing legal information and resources to the public. Senator Lapid is the principal author.

8. Legal Assistance to the Poor Act of 2010 (Senate Bill 2361)

This measure, co-authored by Senator Lapid and Senator Francis Escudero, grants tax deductions to lawyers and law firms providing free legal services to indigent clients. It encourages more private lawyers to render pro bono services.

9. Magna Carta for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)

Senator Lapid co-authored this law, which provides programs for training in entrepreneurship and skills development for labor, aiming to raise government efficiency and effectiveness in assisting MSMEs.

10. Cheaper Medicines Law

Senator Lapid co-authored the consolidated bill that became the Cheaper Medicines Law, which aims to reduce the prices of essential medicines in the country.

11. Arnis as National Martial Art Sport

Senator Lapid was the principal author of the law that declared Arnis as the national martial art and sport of the Philippines.

These legislative efforts reflect Senator Lapid’s commitment to social justice, education, healthcare, and cultural preservation. His work continues to impact various sectors of Philippine society.

Kahit ako, I judged him always kasi palagi siyang tahimik lang. Pero may aksyon din naman pala siya. Di kailangan mag-ingay palagi and nakatulong din siguro yung Batang Quiapo kaya until now relevant pa rin siya. Saludo, Senator Lito Lapid.”
