Direk Cathy, Dr. Carl sanib-puwersa sa pagtuklas ng mga talent

NAGSANIB-PUWERSA ang Nickl Entertainment ni direk Cathy Garcia-Sampana at si Dr. Carl E. Balita para makadiskubre ng mga bagong talento. At ito ay sa pamamagitan ng Gimme a Break: Teacher’s Edition.

Ani direk Cathy sa isinagawang mediacon ng pagsisimula ng Gimme a Break: Teacher’s Edition na isinagawa sa Cuneta Astrodome kamakailan, “It’s a blessing that I discovered Dr. Carl Balita who gave sponsors and partnered with us for the Teacher’s Edition.”

Taong 2021 nang itayo ni Direk Cathy ang Nickl Entertainment Corporation. Ito ay binubuo ng mga propesyonal na marami na ring experience sa film, broadcast media, at entertainment. Si direk Cathy ang nagsilbing presidente at CEO nito.

Ang Gimme A Break naman ay talent search competition na ipino-prodyus ng Nickl Entertainment na siyang nagbibigay ng spotlight sa mga Filipino talent para tulungan sila na maipakita ang mga talentong mayroon sila.

Rito’y nakakadiskubre sila ng  songwriters, katulong si Chard Salazar, a.k.a. Putito Chef, na nagwagi. Siya ang sumulat ng awiting  No Stopping You ng SB19, para sa theme na Love at First Stream.

Si direk Cathy ang nakakita sa potensiyal ni Joross Gamboa, na second runner up sa first season ng Star Circle Quest 2004.

Kasama si Joross sa mga celebrity judge sa Gimme A Break: Teacher’s Edition gayundin ang kauna-unahang artist ng Nickl Entertainment na si Frenchie Dy, at singer-comedienne Beverly Salviejo.

“A lot of talents approached me and said, ‘Direk, i-manage mo na lang ako.’ Pero hindi naman ako ‘yun. Nag lie-low na ako in taking projects, but I realized gusto ko pa rin tulungan ang mga talent,” pagbabahagi pa ni direk Cathy.

“Dr. Carl was able to get sponsors to fly in the contestants from Zamboanga and Sulu to come to Manila. They will be housed in a hotel then will return for the grand finals.

Support of every Filipino to patronize our own is important for ‘Gimme A Break.’ We want to showcase the talent of every Filipino and support them,” sabi pa. “Once we patronize our own, tuloy-tuloy na ‘yan.”

Kasama rin sa mga hurado sa final round ng Gimme A Break sina Rocky Garcia, Jeffrey Tam, at siyempre sina Dr. Carl, at Direk Cathy. Ang mga magwawagi ay ihahayag sa April 10.

Ang mga mananalo ay makakukuha ng P50,000, ang second runner-up ay mag-uuwi ng P30,000 samantalang ang third runner up ay magkakamit ng P20,000.

Noong March 9 ay ipinakilala ang Top 8 Semi-Finalists. Ito ay ang Miracle  Twilight, Ember Sky, Blazing Flame, G-Clef, Blue Bird, The Catcher, at The Scarlet Pitch.
