Financial capacity ng DITO kinuwestiyon ni Hontiveros

KINUWESTIYON ni Senadora Risa Hontiveros ang pinansiyal na kapasidad ng DITO Telecommunity Corporation na makapag-operate bilang third telco player sa bansa sa harap ng mga ulat ng malaking pagkakautang nito.

Ayon kay Hontiveros, dapat silipin ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ang pinansiyal na kapasidad ng DITO na ipagkaloob ang serbisyong iaalok nito sa publiko.

“National Telecommunications Commission should also look into the financial capacity of DITO to provide the services it will be offering to the public,” pahayag ni Hontiveros.

Aniya, dapat mawala nang tuluyan ang mga pagdududang ito bago mag-operate ang DITO.

“After all, this is standard procedure on the part of the NTC with respect to the issuance of any provisional authority or certificate of authority to operate as a telecommunications entity. Hindi lang technical audit ang dapat ginagawa, pati financial audit din,” pagbibigay-diin ng senadora.

Nauna nang napaulat na sa kasalukuyan, ang DITO at ang parent company nito na Udenna Group ay mayroon lamang P20 bilyong equity laban sa P150 bilyong utang.

Samantala, iginiit ni Hontiveros na Chinese identity ang totoong nasa likod ng DITO kung kaya banta pa rin sa pambansang seguridad ang nasabing telco.

“Our compatriots who speak on DITO’s behalf before the media are really just a Filipino mask over a Chinese identity. Kaya bukod sa pagkuwestiyon sa financial capability ng Dito, ang banta nito sa pambansang seguridad natin ang dapat din bigyang diin at linaw,” ayon sa senadora.

“Additionally, the 60% of the company nominally owned by Filipinos is just a thin shell covering the bulk of the Chinese capital powering the project. And that is what gives the Communist Party of China, through its state-run enterprise ChinaTel, the power and leverage to call the shots in Dito’s day-to-day operations,” dagdag niya.
