“When the President ran in 2016, dalawa po ang ipinangako niya: tapang at malasakit. And in the first three years of his administration, he has displayed both.

“He is tough on crime, tough on drugs, and tough on those who would corrupt our youth and threaten our families. Kaya naman po sabi din ng mga surveys our people agree with the war on drugs, they feel safer when they walk our streets, and they are satisfied with how the government has handled peace and order,” diin ni Pimentel na nag-topnotcher sa Bar examinations noong 1990.

Kung titingnan mo ang mga batas na ipinasa ng administrasyon sa nakalipas na taon, these are laws that have a huge impact on the lives of our people: free college tuition, free irrigation, free internet, at isang national feeding program para sa mga batang mag-aaral. These laws show that the President cares, and our people appreciate and acknowledge that.”

“We must all keep in mind that surveys are only a snapshot of public opinion at a given time. “But I think it goes beyond popularity. I believe our countrymen see the benefits of a Senate that is willing to work with the Executive to pursue a common vision, a common goal.”

“With three years to go, there is still unfinished business that needs to be done, priority bills of the President that we need to pass. Kailangan natin ang isang batas para matapos na ang endo; a review of procurement laws, the creation of the Department of Overseas Filipino Workers and the creation of Department of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management,” dagdag ni Pimentel.

“These are important measures that have a greater chance of becoming laws if we have a Senate composed of individuals who share the President’s desire to improve the lives of our people.”
