Sinabi ni Comelec acting chairperson Al Parreño, 4,000 hanggang 5,000 katulad na kaso ang under review bagama’t tapos na ang 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) kahapon.
“Most of them akala nila bata pa sila pero more than 24-years-old na sila,” ayon kay Parreño. “Natatakot kami na may isang 40-year-old na may magse-swear in mamaya so ginawa po namin nag-suspend po kami.”
“Ganoon din po sa mga barangay captain at kagawad na ‘di naman tagaroon sa distrito nila, nag-file pa rin, isu-suspend rin namin sila,” dagdag ni Parreño.
Sinabi ni Commissioner Luie Guia, may “procedure for the succession” kapag ang diskuwalipikong kandidato ang nanalo.
“The only way we can handle that is to file a formal procedure for cancellation of their certificates of candidacy or disqualification,” ayon kay Guia.
“We are hoping that we can resolve all these cases by June 30 so that malinaw po ‘yung succession o kaya kung cancellation po, mababalewala ‘yung boto, ‘yung pinakamalaking boto after (that) ‘yung uupo, that depends on the case that will be filed,” dagdag niya.
Mayroong 335,584 SK positions para sa 386,206 youth council candidates na nakarehistro sa Comelec.
