NAGLABAS ang Department of Education (DepEd) ng memorandum na nag-aalis sa ban sa field trips, na ipinatupad simula 9 Marso 2017 alinsunod sa DepEd Memorandum No. 47 kasunod ng bus accident sa Tanay, Rizal na ikinamatay ng mahigit isang dosenang estudyante.
Inilabas nitong 27 Disyembre 2017 ni Education Secretary Leonor Briones ang Department Order 66 o “Implementing Guidelines on the Conduct of Off-Campus Activities” na naglatag ng mga alituntunin sa pagsasagawa ng co-curricular at extra-curricular off-campus activities sa pampubliko at pribadong paaralan.
Sa nasabing Order ay binanggit ang “lapses” sa safety standards naging dahilan ng pag-isyu ng DepEd Memorandum No. 47 at pagtatakda ng mas malinaw na mga alituntunin sa service providers na kabalikat ng mga paaralan sa nasa-bing mga aktibidad.
“Vehicles, most especially those arranged with external transportation operators shall be duly certified by the Department of Transportation (DOTr)/Land Transportation Office (LTO). Vehicles should not be more than 10 years old as of the scheduled date of the off-campus activity reckoned from the year of manufacture.”
