DEAR MR. MAGNO,

We are writing in relation to your article published by Hataw Tabloid and posted on its website on June 17, 2016.

In the said article, you raised some questions regarding the performance of Jockey MB Pilapil which resulted to the loss of the outstanding favorite “Ariston”.

We respectfully inform you that the Commission, through the Committee on Facilities and Conduct of Races, Protests, Complaints, Appeals and Other Disputes, regularly reviews all the races. In this case, the Committee reviewed again the video of Race 6 of the June 15, 2016 race meeting at the PRCI to verify your observations as stated in the article.

We wish to inform you that the Committee saw nothing wrong with the way MB Pilapil handled horse “Ariston” during the early stages of the race. It is but logical for MB PIlapil to restrain his horse and not engage “Ace of Diamond” in a battle for the head.

At the homestretch, horse “Ariston” was observed to be veering outwards whenever MB Pilapil would apply the whip on its left flank. Although it seemed that he did not do anything to correct this, MB Pilapil’s relentless push at the final straight would indicate that he was out to win. The Committee took into consideration the fact that MB PIlapil is an apprentice rider and still lacks the experience and skills required in closely-fought races like this.

We assure you that the Commission is undertaking all steps and efforts within its power to comply with the mandate of the law.
