PNoy hihingi ng saklolo sa ASEAN vs China

HIHINGI ng saklolo si Pangulong Benigno Aquino III sa mga pinuno ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) para maglabas ng “collective statement” na kokondena sa reclamation activities ng China sa West Philippine Sea.

“Definitely the reclamation issue will be the main topic that the President will raise during the agenda item of the Retreat on discussions of regional and international issues. This is a meeting of his fellow ASEAN leaders. Of course, we would always aim for a collective statement, this time on the issue of the reclamation of some features in the South China,” sabi ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Luis Cruz sa press briefing sa Palasyo kaugnay sa pagdalo ng Pangulo sa 26th ASEAN Summit sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia sa Linggo.

Nauna nang napaulat ang mga larawan nang lumalawak na reclamation activities ng China, partikular ang pagtatayo ng airstrip sa Panganiban Reef, na binatikos ng G-7 at ni US President Barack  Obama.

Kaugnay nito, inihayag ni Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. na pinaplantsa na ang mga detalye sa “strategic partnership agreement” na lalagdaan ng Filipinas at Vietnam kaugnay sa pangangakamkam ng China sa mga isla sa West Philippine Sea na inaangkin din ng dalawang bansa.

“The details of the proposed strategic partnership are still being defined and worked out by the two countries. That’s the current status,” sabi ni Coloma.

Samantala, ipinabeberipika ng Palasyo sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Philippine Navy (PN) ang report na  ginamitan ng water cannon ng Chinese Coast Guard ang 80 mangingisdang Filipino para itaboy sa Panatag Shoal na isa sa mga isla na inaangkin din ng Filipinas sa West Philippine Sea.
