IPINAHAYAG na ang 12 finalists ng Philippine Popular Music Festival o PhilPop na gaganapin sa July 25 ang Grand Finals. Sinabi ng Executive Director nito na si Ryan Cayabyab na magaganda ang mga entries na nakapasok para sa kanilang fouth year.
“We have twelve exceptionally good songs this year. The PhilPop Musicfest Foundation under the care of our chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan is inspired and pushes further till we reach our goal of making Filipino music resound around the world.
“You know K-Pop, you know J-Pop, you know Indo-Pop, oras na para sa Phil-Pop! Our 2014 competition saw twelve diverse and exceptional compositions from both amateurs and professionals featuring different genres and styles,” aniya.
Ang twelve na finalists ay binubuo nina Thyro Alfaro at Yumi Lacsamana (Triangulo), Paul Arsemin (Tanging Pag-asa Ko), Gino Gonzales Cruz at Jeff Arcilla (Apat na Buwang Pasko), Ned Esguerra (For The Rest of My Life), Johannes Daniel Garcia (Edges of the World), Davey La-ngit (Paratingin Mo Naman Siya), Melchor Magno Jr., (Musikaw), Lara Maigue (Nasaan), Ramiro Mataro (Walang Hanggan), Melvin Joseph Mo-rallos (I Owe You My Heart), Soc Villanueva (Kilig), at Mark Villar (Sa Ibang Mundo).
Umabot sa 2,500 songs ang pinagkinggan ng mga hurado sa taong ito kasama na ang mga entry mula sa Filipino songwriters na na-kabase hindi lamang sa Pilipinas kundi pati sa Australia, Canada, Middle East, iba pang bansa sa South East Asia at ibang states ng US.
Ang magwawagi rito ay mag-uuwi ng P1-M cash. Katulong ng PhilPop sa pagbabahagi nito ang Smart at Spinnr, Maynilad, meralco, at PLDT Home. Sinusuportahan din ito ng NLEX, Sun Cellular, Metro Pacific Investments, TV5, Sony, Viva Communications, Viva Records, Pinoy Box Office, Pinas FM, Radio Republic, MTV Pinoy, Philippine Star, InterAksi-yon, at Pep.ph..
