Higanteng mangga sa Australia, ninakaw

KASALUKUYANG pinaghahanap sa Australia ang mga kawatan na ninakaw ang 10-meter, seven tone mango monument gamit ang heavy machinery dakong hatinggabi.

Ang “Big Mango” ay isa sa 150 “Big Things” na itinayo bilang tourist attractions sa maliliit na bayan sa nasabing bansa.

Ang hometown nitong Bowen sa Queensland ay maraming puno ng manga.

Kasalukuyan nang sinusuri ng mga opisyal ang CCTV footage na nakitang gumamit ang mga magnanakaw ng crane para matangay ang monumento.

Gayunman, marami ang nagduda na ang nasa-bing nakawan ay publicity stunt lamang dahil hindi ito naiulat sa pulisya.

“It looks like it was sort of a two o’clock this mor-ning type thing,” pahayag ni Bowen Tourism chairman Paul McLaughlin. “There was some heavy equipment and it looks like they’ve taken the mango.

“At the end of the day it’s a bloody big mango and I’m sure someone will see it and we’ll find it anyway.

“I think it’ll definitely turn up, no doubt about that. We’re not sure what has happened but I’m sure we’ll get it back.”

Sinabi ni Mr. McLaughlin, inakala niyang biro lamang ito nang marinig ang ulat na ang fruit statue, na inilusand noong 2002, ay nawawala.

Ngunit idinagdag na: “I’ve come out and sure enough the mango has disappeared.”

Ang iba pang “Big Things” sa Oz ay kinabibilangan ng Big Banana, Big Pineapple, Big Strawberry at multiple Big Apples and Oranges.

Mayroon ding higanteng mga isda, lobster, penguin, kangaroo at higanteng barrel ng alak.
