Gigi, kaanak imbestigahan (Sa P5-B port project)

HINIKAYAT ni Senadora Miriam Defensor-Santiago ang Department of Justice (DoJ) na palawakin ang imbestigasyon sa sinasabing illegal na aktibidad ni Senador Juan Ponce Erile, at isama ang kontrobersyal na dating chief of staff na si Atty. Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes at ang kanyang pamilya.

Sa dalawang pahinang sulat kay Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, sinabi ni Santiago na ginamit ni Enrile si Reyes at pamilya sa disbursement ng mahigit P5 billion public funds sa pamamagitan ng Cagayan Freeport.

“I humbly submit that it would certainly be productive to investigate the use of the names of his chief of staff – Atty. Jessica Lucilla “Gigi” Reyes – and her family in the disbursement of P5.101 billion in public funds.’

“Enrile was able to insert this humongous amount in the budget for the Cagayan Freeport for the last five years. It appears that Enrile used their names to surreptitiously morph the Freeport into the main vehicle for smuggling and other illicit operations,” pahayag ni Santiago.

Magugunitang inakusahan ni Santiago si Enrile ng pagiging  “king of smuggling,” sa kanyang privilege speech sa Senado nitong nakaraang taon.
