MAGBIBIGAY si Senator Cynthia Villar, chairperson ng Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, ng karagdagang tulong sa mga biktima ng super typhoon “Yolanda” sa Leyte, partikular ang mga magsasaka, mangingisda at ang kanilang pamilya.
Makaraang bisitahin ang mga munisipalidad ng Dulag, Julita, Mayorga at Tanauan sa Leyte noong nakaraang buwan, magtutungo ngayon (January 16) si Villar sa Calubian, Tabango, Leyte at Villaba, na pawang nasa Leyte, para tumulong sa kasalukuyang “rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts” ng nasabing lalawigan.
“We want to help as many people as we can. The momentum to start anew is there already. We will provide them with what they need so that they will be on track in rebuilding their lives, homes and livelihoods,” ayon kay Villar.
Mamamahagi si Villar ng farm implements mula sa Department of Agriculture (DA) sa 500 pamilya sa bawat munisipalidad.
Ang mga ito ay kinabibilangan ng 75 bag ng vegetable seeds gaya ng mais, petsay, kamatis, okra at ampalaya at 125 hanggang 500 coconut seedlings.
Mamimigay rin ang senador ng 500 bags ng organic fertilizers mula naman sa Villar Foundation. Magkakaloob din siya ng food packs.
Bukod dito, magbibigay din si Villar ng katibayan para sa 10 motorized fishing boats ng may net sa mga mangingisda at kooperatiba mula sa DA at Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) sa bawat munisipalidad.
“Farmers and fishermen need to be prioritized since most of the affected areas rely on agriculture. It is important for them to get back on their farms and on the sea to their lives and that of their families will normalize,” sabi pa ni Villar.
Magbibigay din si Villar ng mga materyales para sa bubong ng bahay gaya ng yero at mga pako sa mga pamilya na nasira ang bahay bunga ng bagyong Yolanda.
“I learned that there are still some houses which are yet to be repaired. We will at least make sure that their roofs will be fixed. That’s the most urgent and important—a roof over their heads,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Kasama ni Villar sa Leyte ang team mula sa DA na pinangunahan ni Undersecretary Emerson Palad at Assistant Secretary Edilberto de Luna at BFAR national director Asis Perez.
