INUTUSAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., ang Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) na suspendihin ang pagpapatupad ng dagdag sa monthly contribution ng mga miyembro nito ngayong taon.
Nakasaad ito sa memorandum na nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin para sa Philhealth at sa Department of Health (DOH).
“In light of the prevailing socioeconomic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide financial relief to our countrymen amidst these difficult times, please be informed that the President has directed PhilHealth to suspend the abovementioned increase in premium rate and income ceiling for CY 2023, subject to applicable laws, rules, and regulations,” saad sa memorandum.
Alinsunod sa Universal Health Care Law, regular na tataas ang premium rates o kontribusyon ng mga miyembro ng 0.5 porsiyento kada taon simula 2021 hanggang maabot ang 5-percent limit sa 2025.
Bago inisyu ni Bersamin ang memorandum, nakatakdang itaas ng PhilHealth ang premium rate mula sa 4% sa 4.5% ngayong 2023.
Habang ang income ceiling ay madaragdagan ng P10,000, gaya halimbawa ng P80,000 na magiging P90,000. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
