SUPORTADO ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang ano mang hakbang, maging ang pagsasampa ng kasong impeachment, na magpupurga sa burukrasya at wawalis sa korupsiyon.

“Without making references to any particular individual, the President, of course, is highly supportive of all moves that will set the house, the Philippine government in order,” tugon ni Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella nang tanungin ng media kung pabor si Pangulong Duterte sa planong paghahain ng kasong impeachment laban kay Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Andres Bautista bunsod nang isiniwalat na ill-gotten wealth ng kanyang esposang si Patricia.

“And he’s (Duterte) been very clear about that. That is one of his campaign promises. And so, each and every act — each and every move that entails bringing about a correction in our institutions – is welcome one and one I’m sure he is supportive of,” dagdag ni Abella.

Kamakailan, inihayag ni dating Negros Oriental Rep. Jacinto Paras, na maghahain siya ng impeachment complaint laban kay Bautista dahil sa pagkakamal ng poll body chief ng P1 bilyon ill-gotten wealth batay sa rebelasyon ni Patricia.

Nauna nang dumistansiya sa nasabing isyu si Pangulong Duterte kahit pa kinausap niya nang pribado ang mag-asawang Bautista sa Palasyo para sana magkasundo sila.

Katuwiran ng Pangulo, ayaw niyang mabahiran ng politika ang usapin dahil si Bautista ay appointee ni dating Presidente Benigno Aquino III.
