Magturingan tayo bilang magkapatid (Duterte sa China)

NANAWAGAN si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa China na ituring na mga “kapatid” ang mga Filipino imbes kaaway.

“I hope you (Chinese) treat us as your brothers and sisters and not your enemies. After all, there is a Chinese blood in me. I know the dynamics inside China. The Chinese people might find a place in their hearts for the Filipinos. If I am not ready for war, then peace is the only way,” sabi ni Pangulong Duterte sa kanyang talumpati sa pagdiriwang ng National Heroes Day sa Libingan ng mga Bayani sa Fort Bonifacio sa Taguig City kahapon.

Kasama si Chinese Ambassador sa Zhao Jinhua sa mga dumalo sa nasabing okasyon.

Sa ngayon, ayon sa Pangulo, hindi muna niya igigiit ang naging pasya ng Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) sa pakikipag-usap sa China upang hindi masuspinde ang pakikipag-dialogo.

Nangako ang Pangulo na hindi niya muna igigiit ang naging desisyon ng Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) sa pakikipag-usap sa China dahil baka magbunga lamang ito ng suspensiyon sa pakikipag-dialogo ng Filipinas sa Beijing.

“I propose that we just soft landing everywhere. I will not use the Arbitral decision now. One day, I will lay my position. For now, I want to just talk to you for a moment,” ani Duterte.

Sa desisyon ng PCA, idineklara na sakop ng 200-mile exclusive economic zone ng Filipinas ang mga inaangking teritoryo ng China sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Gusto rin kausapin ni Duterte ang Chinese Ambassador hinggil sa situwasyon ng mga mamamalakayang Pinoy sa Scarborough Shoal.

“I don’t go to war. I keep silent now but I never bring the matter because it might postpone talks. We have so much superiority. But if we continue to treat each other as brothers, then we will improve,” dagdag niya.

Sa ambush interview matapos ang programa, sinabi ni Zhao na bukas ang China sa posibilidad na papasukin ang mga mangingisdang Filipino sa Scarborough Shoal.

Aniya, kailangan magbago ang pananaw ng China sa isyu ng WPS at imbes isulong ang pagkakaiba ng pananaw, dapat tutukan na lamang ang “common interest” para sa Filipinas at China.

Umapela si Zhao sa Filipino Chinese community sa Filipinas na maging mabuting mamamayan para makatulong sa socio economic development.

“Well, you know, our tradition, we do… We do look forward to talk to the Philippines bilaterally….Right now, we need to change our focus. We need to change our focus from differences to common interests so that we can concentrate on cooperation that will benefit our two people,” aniya.
