Makupad na internet connection bubusisiin

BUBUSISIIN sa Kamara de Representante ang makupad na koneksyon ng internet sa Filipinas.

Sa inihaing House Resolution 1658 ni Rep. Mark Villar (Lone District, Las Piñas City), nanawagan siya sa House Committee on Information and Communication Technology na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang Kongreso hinggil sa naturang isyu.

Lumalabas aniya kasi sa ulat ng Akamai, isang major US-based provider, nasa average 2.1 megabits per second (Mbpps) lamang ang bilis na ating nakukuhang koneksyon.

“The data from another Internet metric firm Ookia show that the Philippines have a general average speed of only 3.55 Mbpps,” ani Villar.

Kompara sa karatig bansa sa Asya, nakakukuha ang Laos ng 4.0 Mbps; Indonesia, 4.1 Mbps; Myanmar at Brunei. 4.9 Mbps; Malaysia, 5.5 Mbps; Cambodia 5.7 Mbps; Vietnam, 13.1, at Thailand, 17.7.

“There is a need to address this alarming and poor state of Internet service in the country as it impacts on consumer welfare productivity, right to information and ultimately on our economy,” arya ng mambabatas.
