THE reason nga raw he picked the November 15, 2013 date to stage his 10th anniversary concert, ang alam niya, the Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo will have hers on the 22nd.
I asked Jed kung ano ang maituturing niyang highlights in all those 10 years. At ang sabi niya: the WCOPA (World Championships of the Performing Arts), the albums he made and the sunod-sunod na awards he got from the PMPC Star Awards for Music.
At tinanong ko rin sa kanya his share of rejections in the past.
“It’s true muntik na akong sumuko. Many times. Mayroon akong small band noon. Pero ‘yun nga, they just get my number pero hindi naman kino-call back.
Sabi ko kay Jed, he has a good heart. Imagine, all the proceeds, a hundred percent of it, will go to his chosen beneficiary, ang Bright Hills Children’s Foundation na dedicated and committed to take care and provide love for infants below 3 years old who are abandoned, neglected, or surrendered.
And kung magkakaroon siya ng chance to work with internationally known artists, they would have to be Beyonce and Katy Perry.
“Beyonce’s a total performer. Siya na ‘yung epitome ng artist na you should try to emulate. Ganyan ang dating niya sa fans niya. Also Katy. Nakakanta ko Beyonce’s ‘Love On Top’.
Ano ba ang hindi niya pwedeng kantahin?
“Yung sobrang mabababa na tono.”
What’s next for the coming years?
“Put up my own music school. To develop talents na hindi artists na pa-cute lang but performers. Hopefully, to sit on the chair of ‘The Voice’s’ coach. An album doing duets with the music legends na all originals.”
Acting?
“If there’s a good material. Kahit sa TV. Kahit sa theater. I tried sa ‘SRR: 12’ in Shaina Magdayao’s episode.”
Napahiya na rin naman daw si Jed as a performer in all those 10 years. Sa ASAP noong bago ba pa lang siya and he had to sing a George Canseco classic at lip synched.
“Namatay ‘yung tele-prompter.
The goodness of his heart will resound in this concert na ang istorya ng buhay niya ang maa-unfold sa musikang ihahain niya courtesy of Mel Villena and the AMP Band.
The concert is brought to us by Cravings, PMX Audio, Ad Central, Technomarine, Fernando’s, Sanisprings and presented by Folded & Hung, Crossover 105.1, MOR 101.9, ASAP 18 and ABS-CBN.
