US LAWMAKERS, HINARANG NG PNP SA PAGBISITA KAY DE LIMA

TIKOM ang bibig ng Palasyo sa pagharang ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa isang grupo ng US lawmakers na bibisita kay dating senador Leila de Lima kahapon.

Naganap ang insidente, ilang oras matapos makipagpulong si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., sa US lawmakers sa pangunguna ni Sen. Edward J. Markey sa Palasyo.

Walang kibo ang Malacañang kung napag-usapan nina FM Jr., at US lawmakers ang kaso ni De Lima.

“Earlier today, we had the pleasure of meeting the US Congressional Delegation headed by Senator Edward J. Markey,” paskil ni FM Jr., sa kanyang Facebook page.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the US in the areas of renewable energy use, agricultural development, economic reform, and mitigation of drug problem.”

Napaulat na inihayag ni B/Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, chief ng PNP-Public Information Office, na kailangan ng grupo ni Markey ng permiso mula sa hukuman bago payagang mabisita si De Lima.

“The PNP will extend utmost courtesy and assistance to a foreign delegation from the US Senate that will check on the conditions at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, consistent with existing guidelines and procedures on visitorial privileges in the detention facility,” ani Alba sa isang kalatas.

Matatandaan, si Markey ay pinagbawalang makapasok sa Filipinas noong administrasyong Duterte dahil sa panawagan na palayain si De Lima at pagbatikos sa human rights record, pagsikil sa press freedom, at red-tagging.
