PTV host sinibak sa pro-worker sentiments  

TAMEME ang Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) sa isyu ng pagsibak sa isang host ng ilang programa sa state-run People’s Television Netwpork Inc. (PTNI) dahil sa paghahayag ng kanyang saloobin sa mga kaganapan at kontrobersiyal na usapin sa bansa sa kanyang social media accounts.

 

Mabilis pa sa kidlat na nakatanggap ng kanyang “walking papers” si Jules Guiang, host ng ilang programa sa PTNI, mula sa management ng state-run network, makaraan siyang mag-tweet ng kanyang opinion kaugnay sa pagdinig sa Committee on Legislative Franchises sa renewal ng ABS-CBN franchise.

 

“Defensor grills ABS-CBN for hiring people under diff contracts, like some aren’t regularized.

 

“Check govt’s backyard, thousands aren’t regularized. Ex: I’m on my 8th year in PTV w/o benefits, no employer-employee status. Job orders are a thing in govt & private sector.

 

“We’re all for regularization, for a living wage, etc. I just find this argument hypocritical to be used against a network that is trying to renew their franchise. Maybe it’s a wake up call for the industry to treat their people fairly pero ‘wag naman ipitin ang dos dahil dito.”

 

Nag-viral sa social media ang tweet ni Guiang at nang araw na iyon ay inabisohan si Guiang na hindi na kailangan ng PTNI ang kanyang serbisyo.

 

Sa isang kalatas ay sinabi ni Guiang na mahigit 400 kawani ng PTNI ay nasa kondisyong kontraktuwal at malimit ay nagdarasal na ma-renew ang kanilang kontrata tuwing 3, 6, o 12 buwan.

 

“Each of them has a story to tell, of contentment and even disappointment. Some of them, despite working for more than a decade have not been regularized. They are some of the 400+ contractuals who pray that their contracts would be renewed every 3, 6, or 12 months. Years without benefits. Years without job security. While some of them, like me, are contractuals as a choice, but some, if not most, would definitely want to be regularized,” aniya.

 

Hinimok ni Guiang ang bagong PTNI management na madaliin ang proseso ng pagreregular sa mga obrero, pagtuunan ng pansin ang kapakanan ng mga manggagawa sa gitna ng pandemya at tratohin ang kanilang mga tauhan nang may malasakit, paggalang, at pagkilala sa kanilang ambag sa state-run network.

 

“With that, I urge the new PTV management to swiftly process the regularization of the network’s employees. I urge them to focus on the welfare of their employees in the middle of this pandemic. I urge them to treat their people with love, compassion, kindness, appreciation, and respect,” dagdag ni Guiang.

 

Si PCOO Undersecretary Raquel Tobias Ignacio ang itinalaga ni Secretary Martin Andanar bilang overseer ng PTNI mula noong Nobyembre 2018 , si Katherine de Castro ang general manager at si Maria Fe Alino ang chairman of the board ng state -run network. (ROSE NOVENARIO)
