Ano nga ba ang mas mahalaga, box office o award?

ILANG araw na ang nakalilipas ay usap-usapan pa rin ang resulta sa naganap na 45th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night dahil hindi pa rin makapaniwala ang lahat na ni isang tropeo ay walang naiuwi ang movie adaptation na Miracle in Cell No. 7.

Hindi ba kasama sa criteria ang movie adaptation? Eh, ‘di sana hindi na lang ito isinali sa MMFF?

Well, tapos na kaya hindi na dapat magreklamo, ang maganda lang ay patuloy itong kumikita at pinipilahan sa lahat ng sinehan nationwide at ito rin ang kunsuwelo ni Aga Muhlach bilang isa sa producer.

Sa tuwing may awards night ay parating natatanong kung ano ang mas gusto ng mga artista, box office o award at kadalasang sagot ay, ”Box office! Para muling makagawa ng pelikula at maraming mabigyan ng trabaho.”

Ito ang tinanong din namin kay Iza Calzado pagkatapos ng Black Carpet Event ng Culion kung ano ang pipiliin niya, box office o award at sinagot kami ng, ”puwedeng both?”

Tama rin naman, kaso mukhang hindi sinuwerte ang Culion sa box office dahil nasa ika-walong puwesto ito pero binigyan naman sila ng Special Jury Prize award para sa Ensemble Cast.

Sa walong pelikulang entry ng 2019 MMFF ay tatlong pelikula lang ang naglaban-laban, ang Mindanao, Sunod, at Write About Love at ang iba ay pawang, ‘thank you for attending the Gabi ng Parangal, better luck next year!’
