Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairperson Liza Diño sa pagtataguyod ng nasimulan nilang QCinema Project Market (QPM) na isa sa mga ipinagmamalaking proyekto ng Quezon City Film Commission (QCFC) na si Liza ang executive director.
At ngayong taon mas pinabongga pa ang kalidad ng Philippines movie industry at mas maraming makikinabang na filmmakers at producers this year.
“There’s a growing number of investors in the Philippines recognizing the potential of films for the international market, and QPM aims to capitalize on this exciting opportunity.
“By connecting filmmakers with these investors and partners from Southeast Asia, we are driving the region’s rise as a key player in global cinema and ensuring that our stories are given the platform they deserve,” sabi pa ni Liza.
At ngayong taon isa sa mga magpa-participate sa proyektong ito ay si Jericho Rosales. Siya ang bibida at producer ng pelikulang Lihim na Luha (Secret Cries) kasama ang co-producer na si Darlene Malimas ng DCM Autodidact Films na idinirehe ni Eileen Cabiling.
Ang Lihim na Luha ay kuwento ng isang amang adik na mapipilitang patayin ang asawang aswang para isalba ang buhay ng sanggol nilang anak.
Hindi lang si Echo, maging si Congressman Arjo Atayde at ang Nathan Studios na pag-aari ng kanilang pamilya ay kasali rin. Pagbibidahan ni Arjo ang Moonglow. Joint production ng Pilipinas, Amerika, at Singapore, produced by Alemberg Ang, at idinirehe ng award-winning US-based Pinoy filmmaker na si Isabel Sandoval.
Kasama rin ang Nathan Studios sa mga QPM partners na magbibigay ng grants ngayong taon.
Tinawag na Nathan Studios Development Grant, isa sa mga papasang proyekto ang makatatanggap ng P250,000 grant mula sa nasabing production company.
Ang QPM awards ay may 10 kategorya na magbibigay ng financial support at essential post-production services sa mga mapipiling pelikula.
Tatlong Filipino projects ang tatanggap ng P2-M QPM-PH Co-Production Grant. Ang QPM-SEA Production Prize naman ay P1-M para sa outstanding Southeast Asian project at P750,000 each sa dalawa pang mapipili. Ang mga masusuwerteng pelikula ay ihahayag sa November 16.
Pitong Southeast Asian movies naman ang kasama sa QPM 2024: ang The Beer Girl in Yangon(Myanmar, Indonesia), Picturehouse (Vietnam), Future Laobans (Myanmar), To Leave, To Stay(Cambodia), Other People’s Dreams (Singapore), The Passport (Malaysia), at I’ll Smile in September (Singapore, India).
Labingtatlo naman ang mula sa Pinoy filmmakers: Anak Alon (Daughters of the Sea), Molder, My Neighbor the Gangster, Bato Bato Sa Langit Ang Tamaan Magagalit (Heaven Help Us), Baradero (A Ship of Fools) Golden, Lihim Na Luha (Secret Cries), Inahing Baka (Mother Maybe) Please Bear With Me Angel de Dios, Hum, Ewa (Eve), at The Returning.
Kasabay ng QPM 2 ang pagdaraos ng Asian Next Wave Film Forum at Creative Industries Day, na magbibigay namang oportunidad sa filmmakers, directors, producers, at industry leaders para sa kolaborasyon, learning, at networking.
Ang Creative Industries Day ay gaganapin sa November 15 habang ang Asian Next Wave Film Forum naman ay sa November 16.
