KITANG-KITA ang saya hindi lamang ng may-ari ng Kamuning Bakery Cafe na si Wilson Flores, maging ng mga residente ng Quezon City para makakuha ng libreng pandesal at iba pang regalo kahapon ng umaga.
Ayon kay Wilson, as early as 5:00 a.m. marami na ang nagtungo sa kanilang panaderya para pumila at makakuha ng libreng pandesal.
Ang pamamahagi ng libreng pandesal ay kaalinsunod ng pagdiriwang ng 80-year-old Kamuning Bakery ng World Pandesal Day. Umaabot sa 70,000 libreng pandesal ang ipinamahagi sa mga residente ng Quezon City.
Naglalakihang pangalan sa show business at politics ang nakiisa sa okasyon bilang suporta sa worthy endeavor, na brainchild ng Kamuning Bakery owner, realty entrepreneur at writer na si Wilson.
“World Pandesal Day is a civic and cultural project that hopes to honor the humble yet great Filipino bread pandesal, it is Kamuning Bakery Cafe’s thanksgiving for continuous public patronage since 1939 despite rise of many giant bread factories and modern bakery chains, also despite a destructive 2018 fire which heavily damaged it. KBC seeks to also highlight the problems of hunger and poverty.”
Bukod sa libreng pandesal, may free medical, dental, at optical missions ding gagawin ang KBC sa Oct. 27, Sunday 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Sinabi pa ni Wilson na bagamat maliit na negosyo lamang ang Kamuning Bakery Café noong binili niya at ini-revive four years ago, inspirado siyang simulan ang World Pandesal Day charities tulad ng istorya sa Biblia na ipinamahagi ng isang batang lalaki ang limang tinapay at dalawang isda. Naipakain ni Jesus ang tinapay at isda sa may 5,000 kalalakihan kasama ang mga kababaihan at mga bata.
Nasunog man ang bakery noong isang taon, itinuloy pa rin nito ang mga unique philanthropic project tulad ng annual World Pandesal Day, ang non-partisan Pandesal Forum, at ang World Poetry Day tuwing March 21, pagdo-donate sa mga orphanage at marginalized groups, at iba pa.
Nakapag-donate na rin si Wilson ng apat na public school buildings sa rural areas, tulad sa Sta. Rosa Elementary School sa Balangiga town sa Eastern Samar, Villa Bacolor Elementary School sa Tarlac City at iba pa.
