Venson Ang, patuloy ang healthy lifestyle advocacy

KAHIT retirado na sa showbiz ang dating talent manager na si Venson Ang ay tuloy pa rin ang operation ng kanyang mga gym. Si Venson ay isang bodybuilding enthusiast and healthy lifestyle advocate. Siya ang may-ari ng New Star Samson Gym sa Tagaytay City at sa Frisco, Quezon City.

Siya’y naging presidente at chairman ng Filipino Chinese Weigh­training Association at Power Lifting Association. Isang Parangal ng Bayan Sports awardee na ipinagkaloob noong 1997 ni ex-pres Fidel V. Ramos. Noong 2002, recipient din ng award sa Who’s Who in Philippine Sports mula kay ex-pres Gloria Arroyo. Ang highest award na nakuha ni Venson ay sa International Federation of Body Building & Fitness (IFBB) dahil sa pagpo-promote ng bodybuilding at sa pagiging Tournament Director ng International bodybuilding event na Asian women’s Bodybuilding Championship noong 1989 na tumanggap siya ng medal sa presidente nitong si Ben Weider.

Pagbabalik-tanaw ni Venson, “I started managing talents after Eat Bulaga’s Mr & Miss Sexy 1996, I got all the four male winners and added my own two instructors who both had long hair. Nag-start sila as Sexy Muscles in Motion – Batch 1. Ang batch 2 ay United Colors of Venson at ang batch 3 ay Star Bodybuliders. Kaya ang tawag ko sa lahat ay batch 1, 2, & 3.

“Ang Star bodybuilders bodybuilding competition started 1986 as anniversary promo ng Star Samson gym sa makeshift stage sa loob ng gym for two years, hanggang sa maraming sumasali sa akin, I went for SM City entertainment plaza for five years. Ginoong Tsino naman for two years sa Manila Film Center, diyan nakita ni Stan Carbungco ang galing ko to manage a competition. He then invited me to join Powerlifting Association of the Philippines, after two years ako na ang president ng PAP, pinagsabay ko ang tatlong associations kasi ginawa rin akong president ng FICWETA-Filipino Chinese Weight Training Association,” aniya.

Dagdag ni Venson, “Iyong original na Star Samson Gym sa Roosevelt Avenue ay from 1986 to 2014, napilitan akong ilipat sa ancestral home namin sa 35 H. Francisco St., dalawang kanto away dahil 60 years na ang building. Sinulatan ako ng Bureau of Fire Protection na ‘di na puwede magpa-rent ng tenants, which was a blessing to me kasi ayaw talaga umalis ng tenants ko, kasi mura akong mag­paupa.
