WASHINGTON – Dumistansiya ang Amerika sa sinasabing 25 taon military agreement na niluluto ng Filipinas at China.
Sinabi ni State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner, malayang magdesisyon ang Filipinas kung ano ang nais gawin.
Habang tumangging magkomento ang State Department sa posibleng pagbili ng Filipinas ng mga armas mula sa China.
“With regard to potential arms sales or arms agreements with China, again, we wouldn’t necessarily have a comment on that. It’s the Philippines’ prerogative to make its own choices in terms of who it engages in these kinds of deals with,” ani Toner.
Ayon kay Toner, nasa interes ng Filipinas na palakasin ang relasyon sa mga karatig bansa sa rehiyon kagaya ng China at suportado aniya ito ng Amerika.
“Certainly it’s in the Philippines’ interest to have strong relations in the region, and as much as this is an effort in that direction, we would support it,” dagdag ng State Department spokesman.
