CHAVIT SINGSON’S KINGDOM
Upon Ms. Aster Amoyo’s invitation, we went to Vigan and visited former Governor Chavit Singson’s kingdom.
Honestly, it was an awe-inspiring experience.
His mansion, along with his numerous business enterprise that he has painstakingly built for the past 28 years, happen to be perfectly impressive.
Anyway, Governor Chavit, as he seems to be perpetually called in the province of Ilocos Sur, takes pride in presenting to the press Baluarte – an interactive wildlife sanctuary that he designed and developed to preserve the heritage of their province.
It is also Gov. Chavit’s main concern to educate the people and conserve and protect the endangered species.
“Actually, what inspired me to put up this zoo is my haunting hobby,” the great man asseverates. “For years, I’ve been travelling the world for this purpose. I was able to reach countries as far as South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, Sweden and New Zealand.
“From each destination, I brought home beautiful souvenirs like elephant, buffalo, rhino, lions, etc.
“I had all these animals shipped to Baluarte so that Filipinos who can’t afford to visit said countries will see them in the flesh for free.”
Anyway, Baluarte is becoming more interesting since it was first built.
“Oh, yes! when I finished my term as Ilocos Sur governor, I had more time to travel and hunt so, more animals were added in here.
“They surely provide more excitement and funfare to the place and that’s my goal – for Baluarte to become the ultimate fauna spot in the country.”
Actually, Baluarte is one of the main reasons why Governor Chavit has embarked on a new business venture and that is hosting a TV program called Happy Life.
“In this show,” he asseverates, “deserving beneficiaries will be given the chance to travel while surprise gifts await them when they reach their journey’s end… like a house and lot.
“Yes, we will search for a donor if we cannot find one, I will provide the prize myself.
“Through this program, we also want to give a fresh start to hardworking individuals and organizations.
“My team is actually making the rounds in various parts of the country to shoot lovely tourist spots.
“The show has a good concept and I’m just making negotiations as to which network we would air it.
“For those who doesn’t know yet, my maiden political ambition was running as councilor for Vigan. This time though, I just wanted to help this small town shine and realize its huge potential.
“I went to Narvacan on purpose since it’s the only town that boasts of a big budget but hasn’t shown any progress.
“Imagine, among Ilocos Sur’s 32 municipalities, Narvacan is the only one which doesn’t have new municipal buildings and market and yet, it’s the biggest beneficiary of Republic Act 7171 which I authored.”
For the parting shot, we asked the still bursting with machismo Ilocos Sur’s pillar formula for success.
“I’m a positive person,” he articulates. “I always stick to what I’ve said. I keep my words. Credibility is very important to me. I’m also dedicated in everything I do. I credit my parents for letting me grow up with principle and dignity.”
Very well said indeed.

WBR Entertainment reaffirms its loyalty to GMA Network as it renews its co-production agreement with the Network today, July 29.
“Tayo ay natutuwa dahil ito ay renewal ng contract ni Willie at napakaganda ng ratings ng show ni Willie, magaling naman talaga siyang host kaya nagagalak tayo at nagpirmahan na ulit,” said Atty. Felipe L. Gozon.
WBR Entertainment’s Willie Revillame shared that he feels extremely happy to be renewing his partnership with the Kapuso Network. He noted that GMA Network treats him like family and has been very supportive of his program Wowowin.
“Thank you Atty. Gozon at sa management dahil napaka-supportive ng Network sa atin. The management, the people behind the Network, from the entertainment to the news, social media, wala kang mararamdaman dito na merong intriga o na may ayaw sa ‘yo. So, everyone is happy lalong-lalo na ako, pakiramdam ko rito ay at home. Pagpasok mo sa studio, ganado kang pumasok at wala kang mararamdamang negative. Aalagaan ka, andito silang lahat para suportahan ang show kaya on behalf of my staff, nagpapasalamat kami kasi ang sarap ng feeling na ang trato sa ‘yo dito ay pamilya. Ang importante rito ay naniniwala ang management sa ‘yo, sumusuporta sa ‘yo.”
Willie also revealed that Wowowin will be launching new segments aligned with their objectives to help more Filipinos and to provide quality entertainment. “May bago kaming segment, ang tawag dito ay Tawag ng Pangangailangan. Kung may pangangailangan sila na maibibigay namin, kami ang tatawag sa kanila. Magre-register sila at tatawagan ko kahit na nasaang sulok ka ng Filipinas. Magbibigay kami ng kahit paano ay makakatulong. Meron din kaming pageant na Ms. Wow 2016, na aabangan din ng mga Kapuso viewers.”
Meanwhile, GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit Jr. said that Willie is one of the valued and appreciated Kapuso artists and the viewers can look forward to seeing him do international shows. “Syempre, nasisiyahan tayong lahat sa naging lagdaan ng renewal. Willie is a highly valued and appreciated Kapuso at nasisiyahan tayo on the renewal. Meron na rin pinag-aaralang mga show sa ibayong dagat. Si Willie ay popular at mahal na mahal ng ating mga kababayan sa ibang bansa kaya ngayon pa lamang ay inaayos na at pinag-aaralan ang mga magiging international shows ni Willie. We are very happy and excited.”
