Financier, staffers ng weekly propaganda paper ni Mison inasunto ng 6 libel

INAPRUBAHAN ng Pasay prosecutor’s office officer-in-charge (OIC) ang anim na bilang ng libel na inihain laban sa publisher/financier, columnist/editor at guest columnist/staffer ng weekly newspaper sa Bureau of Immigration (BI) na sinasabing propaganda newspaper nang pinatalsik na si commissioner Siegfred Mison.

Sa kanyang order, inirekomenda ni OIC Bernabe Augusto Solis, na ang mga respondent na sina Ferds Sevilla a.k.a. Ferdinand Sevilla, Reynaldo Marquez a.k.a. Vito Barcelo at Conrado Ching, ay makasuhan ng anim na bilang ng libel.

Si Sevilla ay sinampahan ng 4 bilang ng libel para sa defamatory articles na isinulat niya sa kanyang kolum na Editor’s Desk on Abril 13-17, 2015; Abril 20-24, 2015; Mayo 11-15, 2015; at isang artikulo na isinulat ni Marquez (Barcelo) sa kanyang kolum na Blueprint noong Mayo 4-8, 2015 isyu ng The Border.

Habang si Marquez (Barcelo) ay kinasuhan ng libel sa kanyang kolum Blueprint na isinulat sa Mayo 4-8, 2015 isyu.

Iniutos din ni Solis ang paghain ng kasong libel kay Ching para sa kolum ni Sevilla na isinulat sa Mayo 11-15, 2015 isyu.

Ang The Border ay tinukoy ng Immigration officials at officers bilang propaganda newspaper ng pinatalsik na si Mison, at sinasabing pinopondohan ni Ching bilang publisher.

Inaprubahan ni Solis ang early resolution ni Pasay City senior assistant prosecutor Roque Rosales sinabing “malinaw na tinukoy ni Sevilla ang subject immigration officer” dahil “she is the only IO who applied to be promoted” at “the only BI Terminal head supervisor at NAIA who was recently reassigned to a faraway province in Mindanao.”

Ganito rin ang dahilan ng paghahain ng libel complaint laban kina Sevilla, Marquez/Barcelo at Ching sa mataas na korte.

“The respondents have caused dishonor and discredit to the complainant and the imputation is certainly malicious calculated to malign the integrity and character of the victim,” ayon sa prosecutor sa nasabing resolusyon.

Kaugnay sa motion for consolidation na hiniling ni Sevilla sa kanyang libel case sa sala nina Rosales and Mangabat, ito ay ibinasura dahil ang motion to consolidate na inihain ng ibang respondents sa ibang humahawak  na prosecutor ay ibinasura rin.
