EXCITING ang gaganaping 12th QCinema ngayon na may festival theme na The Gaze dahil humigit kumulang na 76 pelikula na kinabibilangan ng 22 short films at 54 full-length features na mula sa iba’t ibang kategorya.
Ang filmfest ay idaraos mula Nobyembre 8 hanggang 17 sa Gateway Cineplex 18, Ayala Malls Cinema sa Trinoma at gaganapin naman ang Red Carpet sa Shangri-la Plaza, at Powerplant Mall.
Ilan sa pelikulang mapapanood sa opening night ng 12th QCinema sa Nov. 8 ang Walay Balay ni Eve Baswel (Philippines), Gogularaajan Rajendran ( Malaysia), Nightbirds ni Maria Estela Paiso(Philippines), Ashok Vish (India), Silig ni Arvin Belarmino (Philippines ), Lomorpich Rithy(Cambodia), Cold Cut ni Don Eblahan (Philippines), at Tan Siyou (Singapore).
Ayon kay Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, “QCinema can be the initial wedge to help us break the glass ceiling of world cinema and create the path to global recognition and respect.”
Dagdag pa nito, “This vision of QCinema is now a work in progress and is one major factor why Quezon City hopes to be designated as a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Creative City for Film.
“When that happens, our city will be the first in Asia to be given such a distinct honor.”
Habang mapapanood naman sa closing ng QCinema sa Nov. 17 ang mga Japan’s entry sa 2024 Academy Awards ang Cloud ni Kiyoshi Kurosawa, na napanood sa Venice International Film Festival.
