MAAARING magamit ng China ang mga ginawa nilang bakuna kontra CoVid-19 para mapalambot ang posisyon ng mga bansang kaalitan o kaagaw nila sa teritoryo.
Ang pagsusumikap ng China na bigyang prayoridad sa kanilang bakuna ang hindi mayayamang bansa ay posibleng maging kasangkapan para gumanda ang imahen at isulong ang ‘soft power’ diplomacy, ayon kay Yangzhong Huang, isang senior fellow for global health sa Council on Foreign Relations at director ng global health studies sa Seton Hall University’s School of Diplomacy and International Relations.
“Especially when you are dealing with countries where, for example, you have territorial disputes… by promising or providing the desperately needed vaccines, you expect them to soften their positions,” ayon kay Huang sa panayam ng The World.
“By helping mitigating this gap in access between developing countries and developer countries, China actually not only mitigated that gap but portrayed itself as a benign global power,” paliwanag niya.
