As The Moth Flies big winner sa FAMAS Short Filmfest

SUCCESSFUL ang kauna-unahang FAMAS Short Film Festival kamakailan sa Music Museum sa Greenhills, San Juan.

Sa pamumuno ng festival director na si Gabby Ramos ng REMS Entertainment at ng FAMAS president na si Francia Conrado, big winner sa gabi ng parangal ang short film na As The Moth Fliessa pagwawagi nito sa tatlong kategorya; Best Picture, Best Actress, at Best Editing.

Ilan sa celebrities na naging presenter ay sina Claudine Barretto, Dennis Padilla, Pia Moran, Katrina Paula, at LA Santos samantalang ang jury ay binubuo nina direk Lester Dimaranan, direk Maan Asuncion-Dagnalan, Mr. Luis Pedron (ng New York, USA), direk Emmanuel Dela Cruz, at mga FAMAS Board members na kinabibilangan ng theater at film actor/producer na si Vince Tañada at iba pa.

Itinatag ang FAMAS (o Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) noong 1952 at makalipas ang 73 taon, ay pinarangalan naman ang mga short film na namukod-tangi at nangibabaw sa lahat.

Samantala, sa kanyang acceptance speech, sinabi ng direktor ng As The Moth Flies na na si Gayle, “‘As The Moth Flies’ was born from a place we spent years running from. In making it, we were forced to face every buried fear, every unspoken wound, every inner demon I thought I had silenced. And through that confrontation, we found something greater than healing—we found purpose.

“This film is not just a story. It’s a bridge. A bridge for those who suffer in silence, and for those who’ve never understood what that silence feels like. Because cinema has the power to do what words alone cannot— it makes people feel.

“This award is not just a celebration. It’s a responsibility. A reminder that storytelling is a calling — and that films shouldn’t just be made to entertain. It should be a medium to inspire and open topics people fear to talk about.

“Getting this award, we promise to continue to create films that make people feel. Because feeling is where understanding begins. And understanding is where the stigma ends. 

“To my team who stood by me, who believed in this vision even when it was heavy — thank you. You reminded me that filmmaking isn’t just about talent. It’s about trust. It’s about courage. It’s about community.
