ANG pelikulang My Teacher ay kabilang sa entry sa gaganaping Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) ngayong December. Tampok dito sina Joey de Leon at Toni Gonzaga, mula sa pamamahala ni Direk Paul Soriano.
Umaasa si Direk Paul na ang taunang filmfest ay magiging daan para muling bumalik ang mga tao sa panonood ng sine at manumbalik din ang sigla ng movie industry.
Esplika niya, “Hopefully, this will also start and signify the comeback of cinemas and of course the industry that we all love so much, the film industry.
“So hopefully you all can support My Teacher and of course, the other seven entries also, and may this be the beginning of a merry Christmas and hopefully the rollback to all of us going back to the cinemas. I know we all miss it so much.”
Dagdag ni Direk Paul, “So, parang ano, revenge cinema, hindi ba? May mga revenge travel, revenge shopping, so let’s promote revenge cinema where this Christmas we can see long lines, happy families, everyone coming together as we celebrate the industry that we love so much, ang pelikulang Filipino.”
Incidentally, ang concept pala ng My Teacher ay galing kay Toni mismo na layuning kilalanin ng pelikula ang mahalagang papel ng mga guro sa lipunan.
Sa naturang presscon na sponsor ng movie and concert producer na si Joed Serrano (na produ ng ‘I Am Toni’ na gaganapin sa Araneta Coliseum sa mismong 39th bday ng aktres sa January 20, 2023), nabanggit ng mister ni Toni ang kanyang position sa gobyerno bilang presidential adviser on creative communications.
Lahad ni Direk Paul, “I genuinely love and respect the First Family. I told them that I’m here to serve them. It’s a huge challenge but I’m honored to take it.”
Hinggil naman sa kanyang suweldong piso, nabanggit ni Direk Paul na hind ito usapin ukol sa pera. “It’s never been about the money. I’m blessed. I’m comfortable with my private company. I don’t need to take a salary. The experience is priceless. What an experience for a filmmaker like me. That’s really all about.
“I wanna reach out to creative people in the creative industry. Let’s show the world how creative we are. Hopefully I can make a little difference,” pakli niya.
