Hiyang-hiya raw si Mr. Johnny Manahan in connection with the cancellation of Piolo Pascual and Maja Salvador’s show in TV5 Sunday Noontime Live (SNL).
Upon Mr. M’s request, tumawid sina Piolo at Maja from ABS-CBN, where they are regularly being seen at ASAP. Ang kaso mo, pagkatapos lamang nang tatlong buwan, laking gulat ng hosts at production team ng SNL na tinanggal na sa ere ang kanilang show.
“Actually, they assured us dalawang seasons. One season is three months kaya hanggang March,” opined Mr. M.
Ang SNL ay isa sa mga programang iprinodyus ng Brightlight Productions, which is owned by billionaire businessman and former Negros Occidental Representative Albee Benitez, for TV5.
Anyhow, kaya raw pumayag sina Piolo at Maja sa request ni Mr. M na maging hosts ng SNL ay dahil hindi nila mapahindian ang kanilang tatay-tatayan who paved the way for their highly successful showbiz careers.
Nevertheless, maraming bira ang natanggap ng dalawa sa kanilang desisyon.
“Kaya hiyang-hiya ako sa dalawa, e,” he was qouted to have said in an interview.
“I talked to them and I said, ‘I’m so sorry for dragging you into this.’
“Even if they assured us at least six months, nine months pa nga dapat, e.”
Whatever, hindi nasunod ang napag-usapang duration ng programa.
“Piolo is a sweet guy. I don’t think he has to work. He only works when he likes it. He’s a sweet guy.
“I knew he had reservations about the show because it’s in another channel.
“The same thing with Maja, she had reservations,” he asseverated.
He was able to convince the two na gawin ang magiging katapat na programa ng ABS-CBN Sunday noontime show na dati nilang kinabibilangan, ang ASAP Natin ‘To.
Right now, there are some talks that Piolo is back with ABS-CBN.
Anyhow, according to Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP), the business tycoon who is in charge of running TV5, gusto raw nila si Piolo para sa kanilang network.
“That’s what they told Piolo also… kasi si Piolo, siyempre nag-i-inquire rin siya and kausap din niya si MVP.
“Sabi ni MVP, ‘You know, kapag ayaw na ni Albee, sasalohin namin ‘yung show, because we like you here in Channel 5.”
Samantala, siniguro raw ni Mr. M kina Piolo at Maja na makakukuha sila ng mga proyekto sa TV5 in the succeeding months.
“Anyway, in return, I said, ‘Don’t worry, aayusin ko na… you will have six months, maybe nine, and then Channel 5 will give…, like, si Maja, another show, maybe a soap.
“Then Piolo, ‘You can produce if you like,’ sabi ni MVP sa akin.”
