ITINANGHAL na Best Actor si Paolo Ballesteros sa 29th Tokyo International Film Festival para sa kanyang pagganap bilang isang transgender woman na si Trisha na nangarap na mailibing bilang si Lady Gaga sa pelikulang Die Beautiful na pinamahalaan ni Jun Robles Lana.
Kinilala rin bilang Audience Choice Award ang Die Beautiful na tinanggap ni direk Jun Robles Lana.
“Being selected as a Competition film itself was a big surprise for us. Thank you very much,” ani Lana nang tanggapin ang tropeo.”Receiving this award convinced me that the film strengthened the bond beyond language and the race.”
Bago pa man ang awards night, marami na ang napalingon kay Ballesteros sa premiere night nang lumakad ito sa red carpet bilang si Angelina Jolie.
Samantala, umiiyak na tinanggap ni Ballesteros ang tropeo bilang Best Actor na naka-Julia Roberts nang mga oras na iyon. Sa kanyang speech, sinabi nitong hindi siya makapaniwala na kikilalanin ng festival ang kanyang ipinakitang arte sa Die Beautiful.
Nagbiro pa nga siya na akala niya’y sa Best Actress category siya ihihilera.
Pinasalamatan ni Ballesteros ang bumubuo ng Tokyo International Filmfest, gayundin si Ms. Liza Dino-Esguerra na kasa-kasama nila at ang kanyang buong pamilya, kaibigan, at bumubuo ng Die Beautiful.

“Surprise! Well I thought today is just a red carpet thing, like a parade that’s why I wore dress.
“First I would like to thank Tokyo International Film Festival and the members of the jury for embracing our film. I though I was up for best actress (hahaha). to the organizers, to the programmers, to the volunteers, assistants, you’ve been very helpful and gracious to us during our stay here in Japan, domo arigatou gozaimashita.
“To the man behind the film, Direk Jun (Lana), thank you very much for entrusting me Trishas character. To our producers, Sir Percy (Intalan), to our staff and crew and the whole production specialy to all who are with us today, thank you for you professionalism and for the gift of new friendship.
“To Mis. Liza Dino-Seguerra, thank you for your support. And to my family, mama, ate Lailie, Jikky, tatay, Kaye, nanay, rana, kiel, my daughter Kira, our cats and our dogs, this is all for you, thank you very much.
“And to my manager, to all my dabarkads, to all my friends, my fans in Manila and around the world…best actor… and especially to all of you who came and watch our film, I will never forget you, thank you very much.”
