NAGTATAG ang bagong komisyuner ng Philippine Basketball Association na si Andres “Chito” Narvasa II ng Players Affairs Office kung saan puwedeng humingi ng tulong ang mga manlalaro, coaches at iba pang mga taong konektado sa liga tungkol sa kanilang mga problema.
Nagdesisyon si Narvasa na gawin ito pagkatapos ng huling sigalot ng ilang mga manlalaro ng Mahindra tungkol sa kanilang mga kontrata sa Enforcers.
Naayos din ang problema nang pumirma si Alex Nuyles ng bagong kontrata sa koponan habang nabigyan ang isa pang manlalarong si Mike Burtscher ng buyout.
“Any concerns, they can come to us,” wika ni Narvasa. “Any of their concerns they can come to us. If there will be no action hindi naman pwede yan. There has to be immediate action. It cannot drag on.
“The Players’ Affairs Office will open its doors to anybody that is involved in the PBA. It can even go down to the ballboy. Any concern. If he is feeling aggrieved then we will see how we can resolve them. This also trickles back even the former players; those who have retired. Even if they are retired if we can do something about it then why not?”
Samantala, sinabi rin ni Narvasa na magkakaroon ng ilang mga pagbabago sa mga rules ng laro para maging maganda ang takbo at maiwasan ang mga masamang tawag ng mga reperi.
Ilan sa mga ito ay ang deliberate foul na mas magaan ang parusa kumpara sa flagrant foul at ang pag-reset ng shot clock sa 14 na segundo pagkatapos ng offensive rebound.
“We’re back to playing the game (of basketball) as we learned it while we were growing up,” ani Narvasa. “They will most certainly allow our players to put their talents and skills on display, resulting in more exciting games that will be more enjoyable for the fans to watch.” (James Ty III)
