NAKIKIISA kami sa panawagan ng concerned citizen kay Senator-elect Kiko Pangilinan na repasuhin ang batas na Republic Act 9344, o Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, na siyang principal author.
Ito’y matapos mapanood ang kuwento ng pagpatay sa magkapatid na Crizzle Gwynn at Crizville Louis Maguad.
Ipinalabas ito sa Maalala Mo Kaya na nagbalik sa ABS-CBN na ang host ay si Ms. Charo Santos- Concio pa rin. Ang istorya ng magkapatid ang tinampok sa MMK ang na malagim ang sinapit matapos ang isang insidente.
Marami ang nag-repost sa social media sa Facebook post at open letter ng isang “Missy Nardo” para sa senador.
Narito ang buong liham ni Missy Nardo kay Sen Kiko:
“Congratulations on your recent election win. Your return to the Senate offers you a renewed opportunity to craft legislation that truly responds to the needs and sentiments of the Filipino people.
“I write this not in anger, but in anguish and hope—on behalf of every family who has cried for justice, and especially for the memory of Crizzle Gwynn and Crizville Louis Maguad, brutally murdered in their own home.
“Their case, a heartbreaking tragedy that gripped the nation, is more than a headline—it’s a glaring wake-up call.
“Senator, you authored Republic Act 9344, the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, with the best of intentions—to protect and rehabilitate children.
“But the world has changed since 2006, and so has the way crimes are committed, even by the young. In the case of the Maguad siblings, the perpetrators were minors, but they acted with chilling intent, cruelty, and discernment.
“They knew what they were doing. Yet, due to the safeguards in the current law, justice was delayed and diluted.
“This is not justice.
“We urge you, Senator Pangilinan, to take accountability—not just as a lawmaker, but as the principal author of this law. Revisit it. Reform it.
“Create an amendment that ensures minors who commit heinous crimes with proven discernment are met with appropriate, timely, and proportional consequences.
“Let the law serve as a shield for the innocent and a sword against evil, regardless of age.
“This is your chance to correct what has become a loophole for impunity. Let the pain of the Maguad family not be in vain. Let their tragedy lead to legislative change.”
“You once believed in protecting children—and we still do. But protecting children must never come at the cost of sacrificing justice for the victims of crimes committed by those same children.”
“Now is the time to act.
“Amend RA 9344. Let justice evolve. Let the law catch up with the reality.
“Respectfully, A concerned and grieving citizen who believes in both justice and reform.”
